Ujjawal Dubey’s brand Antar Agni celebrated its tenth year at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI and played with extremes for new collection ‘Two Faced.’ The collection made its runway debut on October 10, the fashion week’s Sustainable Fashion Day.
“It was a dance of contrasts between structure and fluidity, minimalism and ornamentation, tradition and innovation,” announced the brand in a press release. “It was a line that will appeal to the many personalities hidden within a person’s psyche.”
The collection was made up of three segments, each designed to represent a different facet of human experience: Render, Wander and Surrender. Render focused on structured three-piece sets and structured cuts, Wander had a monastic flavour and highlighted fluid drapes, and Surrender featured statement headpieces and dynamic looks.
Ujjawal Dubey showcased a menswear collection at the 2014 GenNext show and since then added womenswear to his apparel offering. The designer has won the Regional Round of the Woolmark Prize’s Asia Category and was named in the 30 under 30 list by Forbes’ India magazine in 2017.
Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI runs from October 9 to 13 in New Delhi and features a wide range of established and up and coming designers, as well as design contests. The fashion week mixes in-person runway shows with digital streaming.
