Flipkart has deepened its foray into the increasingly popular quick commerce realm by launching Flipkart Minutes. Ahead of the festive season, the business has rolled out deliveries in between eight to 16 minutes for customers in select neighbourhoods.
Flipkart Minutes has gone live in locations including Bengaluru’s HSR Layout and Belandur, India Retailing reported. The Walmart-owned e-commerce giant aims to take on established quick commerce businesses such as Blinkit and Zepto with the move and engage shoppers ahead of the busy festive season, when consumers often need goods quickly.
Products which are currently available through Flipkart Minutes include personal care goods, groceries, electronics, and smartphones among others. The quick commerce service has begun its commercial operations in Bengaluru, where both it and its fashion arm Myntra are based.
Ahead of launching its quick commerce operations, Flipkart began opening dark stores in select metro locations in the run up to its flagship sale. Dark stores are logistics points located in urban areas which store online inventory and their strategic location enables fast deliveries within cities. The business also ran a pilot programme of the quick commerce service for select customers to check its processes.
