GreenStitch targets reducing fashion industry’s carbon emissions, eyes one billion tonnes by 2030

Sustainability in fashion focused ‘software as a solution’ provider GreenStitch aims to to manage one billion tonnes of carbon emissions by the year 2030. After completing just over a year in business, GreenStitch is focusing on client acquisition and aims to acquire over 1,000 clients this financial year.

“Currently, global emissions are around 54 billion tonnes, with projections indicating an increase to approximately 75 billion tonnes by 2030,” said GreenStitch’s co-founder Narendra Makwana, India Retailing reported. “So far, we have managed around 15 million tonnes of carbon emissions and by 2030, our target is to manage one billion tonnes.”
 
The business’ goal is to work with over 10,000 factories by the 2026 financial year. A key focus area for GreenStitch is Southeast Asia, which is responsible for the majority of the world’s fashion related emissions, according to the business.

Narendra Makwana and Arpit Samdani launched GreenStitch Technologies Private Limited in April 2023 in Bengaluru. The business has a number of clients in India including Nahar Spinning Mills, SCM Garments, EcoLine Clothing, Orient Hometex, Earthood, Eastman Exports, and Filatex and currently works with a total of 100 factories to provide sustainable solutions.
 
The business also offers information dissemination and recently partnered with Earthood to hold a digital webinar on ‘future-proofing fashion’, GreenStitch announced on Linkedin. The webinar shared insights on decarbonisation of the manufacturing process and regulatory insights.
