Stirling will host its first ever Summer Sessions series of concerts next year.

Organiser DF Concerts plans to bring the much-loved live music series to the foot of Stirling Castle.

Stirling will join Edinburgh and Glasgow as a host city in Scotland.

The city will be celebrating its 900th anniversary in 2024.

Council leader Chris Kane said: “It’s hugely exciting and fitting for us to host the Summer Sessions for the first time as we celebrate this major milestone.”

The event will take place at Stirling City Park – with a full programme of events expected to be announced soon.

There are also Summer Sessions in Bedford, Chepstow, Derby, Plymouth and Southampton – where the likes of Jess Glynne, Nile Rodgers and CHIC, Hozier, and Kaiser Chiefs appear on the different line-ups.

Summer Sessions began in Glasgow in 2013 before expanding to Edinburgh in 2018, and has hosted bands such as The Cure, Simple Minds, Florence And The Machine and Paloma Faith.

Geoff Ellis, CEO of DF Concerts, said: “Stirling City Park is a very unique event space, sitting in the dramatic shadow of Stirling Castle and we cannot wait to bring some world-class acts to the city as it celebrates its 900th anniversary.”
