Pineapple is not only good for digestion and boosting immunity, but is also amazing for your skin. It has bromelain that helps to calm skin inflammation, redness, swelling and irritation. The sweet fruit can also help in skin regeneration and protect your skin from possible sun damage as well. So, it’s time to include pineapple in your skin care regime. You can start with some homemade pineapple face masks.
If you believe in the power of vitamin C, you will love pineapple as it is full of it. This vitamin is great for your skin, even science says so. A 2017 study published in the Nutrients showed that using a vitamin C formulation for about three months every day helped in improving the appearance of fine wrinkles on the face and neck.
Homemade pineapple face masks for glowing skin
You can make pineapple face masks depending on what your skin needs.
1. For hydrated skin
Mix a tablespoon of pineapple puree, two teaspoons of honey and two teaspoons of oatmeal powder, and form a smooth paste, suggests beauty veteran Dr Blossom Kochhar, Chairperson of the Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies. Apply this face mask to a clean face and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes then rinse it off well with water. After cleaning your face, apply a moisturiser and sunscreen after.
2. For uneven complexion
Take a tablespoon of pineapple puree, two teaspoons of aloe vera gel and one to two drops of tea tree oil, and mix the ingredients well. Once you get a smooth paste, apply a thin layer of the mask. Wait for 10 minutes then rinse it off when it is still damp.
3. For enlarged pores
Mix one tablespoon of pineapple puree, two tablespoons of thick yogurt and oatmeal powder until the mixture becomes thick. Apply a thin layer to a clean face and leave it on for five to 10 minutes then wash it off with water.
4. For dehydrated skin
You may try this face mask if you have dehydrated skin, says the expert. Just take one tablespoon of pineapple puree, two teaspoons of cucumber juice and one teaspoon of rosehip oil. Mix them well until you get a smooth and runny paste. Cleanse and exfoliate your skin before applying the mask then leave it on for 15 minutes and wash it off.

6. For skin rejuvenation
Take a bowl and add a tablespoon of pineapple puree, two to three teaspoons of mashed banana and two teaspoons of sweet almond oil and mix them well until you get a smooth paste. Apply the mixture on a clean dry face and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse it off and apply a hydrating face cream and sunscreen to protect your skin.
These masks help in skin rejuvenation, hydration, achieving even skin tone and radiant glowing skin, says Dr Kochhar.
Pineapple helps brighten and exfoliate the skin, making it generally beneficial for normal-to-oily skin types. However, people with sensitive skin, allergies or specific skin diseases should avoid pineapple in their skin care. To be on the safe sider, go for a patch test before using these face masks.
