Perhaps the coolest of them all, the Darwin Fridge Festival is a celebration of Darwin, its people and the humble fridge.
The festival began in a shopping centre carpark in 2010 but has since grown to incorporate other venues, including the Waterfront and airport, for two weeks of workshops, celebrations, live music, poetry, theatre, comedy, art and exhibitions. Paint a fridge, decorate an Esky, write a poem, sculpt something spectacular or put on a play and you could win a prize.
Last year, more than 50 Eskies were transformed into glorious artworks. And the coolest part of all – everything is free.
