Goyal and Becht cut a ribbon to open the exhibition at the Chandra Mahal, Sawai Man Singh Mahal, Rambagh Palace Hotel, where the summit is taking place, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council announced in a press release on August 24. The exhibition is designed to showcase the city’s expertise and diversity in gems and jewellery, textiles, and handicrafts.

“The exhibition exemplifies the seamless fusion of tradition and modernity that characterises Jaipur’s industries,” said GJEPC chairman Vipul Shah in a press release. At the exhibition, the concept of ‘Navaratan’ was explored as it showed nine precious stones in different colours and their influence on jewellery, crafts, and textiles.

At the opening, Goyal and Becht met with artisans in the exhibition’s experience zone and learnt about the process of making a number of Rajasthani textiles including Dabu, Block Print, Bandhani, and Gotta Patti. The area also featured crafts including marble gold leaf work, wooden handicrafts, and footwear.

The exhibition aims to offer a spectacle for G20 delegates and to foster collaboration between them. It is also designed to encourage investments in India’s gem, textile, and handicraft sectors and celebrate Indian craft heritage.
