Six people killed in suspected terror attack in Tel Aviv, Israeli police say | World News

At least six people have been killed and nine were injured in a shooting and stabbing attack in Tel Aviv, Israeli police have said.

Two gunmen began their suspected terror attack on the city’s light rail system before continuing on foot, officers added.

The suspects opened fire on a boulevard in Jaffa, a mixed Arab-Jewish neighbourhood in southern Tel Aviv.

The pair were then killed by civilians and inspectors using personal pistols.

The assault took place moments before a massive barrage of rockets from Iran sent people into bomb shelters across Israel, including in Tel Aviv.

TV footage showed the gunmen leaving a light rail station and opening fire.

Israel‘s MDA ambulance service said it received a report at 7.01pm local time (5.01pm UK time) of people injured by gunfire.

At the scene, medics and paramedics treated a number of victims with a range of injuries, including some who were unconscious, the MDA added.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack but Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich said the suspects were Palestinians from the West Bank city of Hebron.
