IIGJ celebrates 20 years in Mumbai

The Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery celebrated its 20-year anniversary in Mumbai with a number of jewellery industry figures as it reaffirmed its commitment to continued expansion and contribution to the Indian jewellery industry.

“IIGJ Mumbai is proudly celebrating its 20th foundation day anniversary today,” announced the institute on Facebook. “Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to our parent body- GJEPC [Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council], our donors, our founding members, our alumni, all our past chairs and board members, present chairman and members of the board, our students, faculty and staff (both past and present) and also to everyone connected with us over the last twenty years, for your good wishes and unstinting support!”
 
The anniversary event welcomed IIGJ Mumbai’s chairman and Moksh’s founder and CEO Milan Chokshi as a guest of honour, the GJEPC reported on its website. The event also welcomed previous GJEPC chairman Sanjay Kothari, IIGJ India CEO Debasish Biswas, and IIGJ Mumbai board director and Touchstone Fine Jewellery partner Apoorva Mehta who all spoke to IIGJ Mumbai students, faculty, and staff.

During his address, Chokshi underlined how the Indian jewellery industry is evolving swiftly and urged students to focus on making a positive impact on the sector. The event also saw a number of staff and faculty members who completed 10 years and 20 years of service recognised for their contributions.
