GIA India celebrates jewellery graduates at Mumbai ceremony

The Gemological Institute of America held a graduation ceremony for its jewellery design students in Mumbai on April 19. Along with celebrating the graduating students’ work, the event also featured an exchange of industry insights.

“The gem and jewellery industry has many verticals,” said B N Jewellers India Private Limited’s head of new product development Devinder Layal at the event, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council reported on its website. “Obtaining a quality education from a reputable institute such as GIA can strengthen the industry by ensuring that more qualified professionals meet international standards.”
 
Layal attended the event as chief guest and gave the keynote speech. By speaking about ‘Product and Product Development’, Layal highlighted the importance of product development in the Indian jewellery industry.
 
“Empowered with the GIA credentials and with Devinder ji’s words of encouragement, I am confident our students are ready to create their mark in the gem and jewellery industry,” said GIA India’s senior director of education and market development Apoorva Deshingkar at the event.
 
The GIA India also held a graduation ceremony for its diamond students last week. “Congratulations to all the brilliant minds for successfully graduated from GIA’s Diamond Program,” announced GIA India on Facebook. “Wishing you all the best as you embark on your journey in the gem and jewellery industry! Thanking our esteemed guest speaker, Salim Daginawala, director [of] J.S. Daginawala and president, Surat Jewellers Association for imparting valuable insights and knowledge to our students and for answering all their questions.”
