Dior names Jay Chou as global ambassador

Dior announced on Friday Mandopop star Jay Chou as its latest global ambassador.

The move marks the first time a Mandopop artist has been chosen by Dior to represent the brand on a global scale.

“As our new global ambassador, Jay embodies the spirit and singularity of Dior style, a modernity with a timeless signature. Driven by audacity and creativity, this alliance celebrates more than ever the special ties uniting Dior and culture in all its forms,” said Dior in a statement. 

The announcement aligns with Chou’s upcoming release of a new single on December 22, just in time for Christmas. It also follows the end of his ‘Carnival’ world concert tour, where Chou took the stage in Bangkok, in outfits crafted by Kim Jones, the creative director of the fashion house, exclusively for Chou’s performance.

“I am thrilled to join Dior as a global ambassador and am very grateful for Dior’s custom-designed stage ensembles for the concerts in Bangkok,” said Chou, who is taking on the role of an ambassador for a fashion designer brand, for the first time.  

“We have been working together on the stage outfits and performing in Dior, which truly makes the stage experience incredibly special. I am looking forward to our journey ahead with Dior.”

The concerts in Bangkok marked Chou’s return to Thailand after a two-decade hiatus. Over 70,000 fans flocked to the Rajamangala National Stadium, setting records. He is also recognized as an actor with his previous debut in the Hollywood movies The Green Hornet and Now You See Me II. 

As a Dior global ambassador, he joins the likes of actor Robert Pattinson, and South Korean singer Haerin, among others.
