Streetwear inspired apparel brand Bonkers Corner plans to invest around Rs 100 crore to expand its retail and manufacturing capacities. The label has with Rs 60 crore earmarked for a sustainable production unit in Murbad, Maharashtra and will open new brick-and-mortar outlets in India and the Middle East.
“Our current manufacturing unit, which spans across two lakh square feet, produces two lakh pieces per month, whereas with the new manufacturing unit, we will be increasing the capacity to four lakh pieces per month,” Bonkers Corner’s founder Shubham Gupta told ET Retail. “Around 20% to 30% of funds for the new manufacturing unit will be internally accrued, and the rest will be financed through bank loans.”
Established in 2020, Bonkers Corner retails from its direct to customer e-commerce store and its exclusive brand outlets in cities including Pune, Guwahati, Lucknow, and Mumbai, according to its website. The brand’s new spring collection includes graphic t-shirts and hoodies featuring the cartoon character Spongebob and other casual separates.
Bonkers Corner plans to widen its customer base by expanding into new product categories. “Going ahead, we plan to expand into new categories like womenswear including dresses, t-shirts, and denim,” said Gupta. “Over the next two years, we also plan to expand internationally starting with Dubai and Gulf countries.”
