Bata India has extended its voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) to its employees at its Hosur unit in Tamil Nadu.
Last year in September, the company had announced a similar VRS at its Southcan unit located in Karnataka.
During the July-September quarter, the company’s expenses on employee schemes like VRS stood at Rs 40 crore.
“The company believes that implementation of the VRS will be mutually beneficial to the workmen and the company,” Bata said in a regulatory filing.
“The Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) announced for our Hosur facility is part of our ongoing commitment to providing our employees with choices that align with their personal aspirations,” it added.
Bata India is one of India’s leading footwear retailers with over 1,950 stores across brands like Power, Hush Puppies, and Floatz among others.
