Ashish N Soni showcased a playful spin on dark academia style with 1980s proportions and whimsical prints on the runway at Lakmé Fashion Week x Fashion Design Council of India. The fashion show took place on October 11, day one of the fashion week

Ashish N Soni’s runway was illuminated to reveal cartons of fruit as models launched down the runway wearing fruit printed minidresses and suits with shorts. Male models wore blazers with fruity embroidery and vintage style, rust hued trousers and clashing prints added to the eclectic aesthetic.
 
Notable looks included a checked men’s suit covered in small bananas and women’s wool mini dresses with dramatic shoulders or sleeves. The wearable collection presented a modern take on vintage semi-formal wear and the designer made a strong case for making the overcoat the outerwear staple of the season. 

Ashish Soni launched his label in 1991 then launched his own independent design studio Ikos Designs in 1993.Ashish N Soni retails through a selection of multi-brand luxury boutiques in India and abroad and is known for both its use of wool and its occasion wear.  
 
Lakmé Fashion Week x Fashion Design Council of India runs from October 11 to 15 at New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. The event’s runway shows are also live-streamed across social media, including on the FDCI’s Facebook page, to enable the public to watch. The fashion week also features a ‘Designer Stockroom’ shopping fair and finales for several design contests.
