Arvind Fashions Limited plans to scale up the retail presence of apparel and accessories brand US Polo Assn in India to tap into growing demand for casual wear in the country. The business expects categories including womenswear, footwear, and inner wear to drive US Polo Assn’s growth.
“US Polo is the largest brand in our portfolio,” Arvind Fashions Limited’s managing director Shailesh Chaturvedi told India Retailing. “Out of the company’s revenue last year of Rs 4,259 crore, US Polo was close to Rs 2,000 crore. Why can’t it be a Rs 5,000 crore brand? But we’re saying let’s not put any constraint on our thinking, just let it scale up and be very, very aggressive and very, very ambitious behind the US Polo brand. There’s no limit to our ambition, how big this brand can be.”
Arvind aims to fuel US Polo Assn’s growth by expanding with an omni-channel approach and launching new brick-and-mortar stores while also amping up its online presence. The brand will also launch new products.
US Polo Assn has also increased its focus on the Indian market by partnering with the Maharaja of Jaipur and polo player Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh (Pacho) with whom the label has launched an exclusive collection. The label has also worked with actors and models Arjun Rampal and Milind Soman in the past.
“We decided this time to go more deep into the sport that we are known for, that is polo,” said Chaturvedi about the label’s partnerships. “And that’s why we launched this campaign with Maharaja Padmanabh Singh (Pacho) from Jaipur. We couldn’t find a better fit than a real authentic polo global player for our brand.”
