Amazon India sees 8,000 sellers cross Rs 1 lakh in sales in first 48 hours of flagship sale

E-commerce giant Amazon India reported that more than 8,000 of its sellers crossed the Rs 1 lakh mark in sales during the first 48 hours of its flagship sale the ‘Amazon Great Indian Festival’ 2024 as it broke its own record for customer visits.

“We are thrilled to witness the biggest ever opening with a record 11 crore customer visits, and highest number of Prime members shopping during PEA,” said Amazon India’s vice president of categories Saurabh Srivastava, ET Retail reported. “We also witnessed an overwhelming participation of sellers across India, including small and medium businesses, and thousands of sellers became lakhpatis during the first 48 hours of AGIF 2024.”
 
The business saw its fashion and beauty product category witness a surge of new customers from non-metro locations. Over 60% of shoppers who purchased apparel and makeup goods for the first time on Amazon India during the first 48 hours of the sale and who hailed from Tier 2 cities and beyond made up more than 55% of total orders placed in that category.
 
Amazon India also reported that EMI payments have proved popular during the sale, the Economic Times reported. The e-tailer witnessed a 40% increase in no-cost EMI transactions, mostly for electronic goods.
