Reliance Retail Limited has signed the government’s Department of Consumer Affairs’ ‘Consumer Safety Pledge’ to reaffirm its dedication to consumer safety. The Reliance Industries Limited business held a signing ceremony on behalf of its platforms, including Ajio, Netmeds, Reliance Digital, and JioMart.
“Consumer safety has always been a cornerstone of our operations,” said Reliance Retail Limited’s president and chief public policy and regulatory officer Ravi Gandhi in a press release. “By signing this pledge, we reiterate our unwavering commitment towards fostering a safe and secure e-commerce marketplace, that benefits millions of consumers.”
The agreement is designed to reaffirm a commitment to maintaining the highest compliance with safety standards for the benefit of Indian consumers. The pledge’s four key principles comprise detecting and preventing the sale of unsafe and non-compliant products, working with statutory authorities to ensure adherence to product safety regulations, increasing seller awareness about the need for safe products, and empowering consumers with information and mechanisms they can utilise to report safety concerns.
“The proactive initiative of the Dept of Consumer Affairs under the guidance of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, is a testament to the commitment of the government to consumer prosperity,” said the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution B L Verma. “I also appreciate the commitment of all those e-commerce companies that have signed the pledge for creating a safer ecosystem for consumers. Let’s work together towards a future where every consumer has access to safe and reliable products.”
Reliance Retail Limited plans to work with the Central Consumer Protection Authority to promptly address concerns. The agreement was signed on December 24, National Consumer Day.
