Milan Fashion Week unveils an expanded programme for September

Milan is gearing up for an intense Fashion Week in September. The back-to-school catwalk programme, dedicated to the women’s ready-to-wear collections for Spring/Summer 2025, to be held from September 17 to 23, has been extended by an extra day. The Camera della Moda (CNMI) has thus increased the number of shows to 58, with the addition of three virtual shows. Despite the absences of Giorgio Armani, Tom Ford and MSGM this season, the CNMI will welcome eight new names compared to February’s winter session, a mix of returning designers and newcomers.

The opening day, usually reserved for the inauguration of the event and a few other events, on Tuesday September 17, will this time host no fewer than four shows. Fendi will open the show, followed by Marni, Alberta Ferretti and Iceberg, with the possibility of another prestigious name being added to the line-up.
 
This season, the schedule will not include Giorgio Armani, who will be showing his main line in New York in October, but the designer will be present in Milan with the double show of his young Emporio Armani line on September 19. Tom Ford is also missing from the schedule, who has just parted company with his creative director Peter Hawkings and will be presenting its collection in a showroom. The same goes for MSGM, which unveiled its womenswear collection alongside its menswear collection in June to mark its 15th anniversary.
 
In September, Milan Fashion Week will also have to forego Blumarine, which has been in a transitional phase since the sudden departure of its last creative director Walter Chiapponi. In addition, according to the provisional calendar just released by the Italian Fashion Chamber, Chiara Boni, La petite robe and Sagaboi are missing, as is Ethiopian designer Feben, who was backed by Dolce & Gabbana in February, and who will be replaced by Chinese designer Susan Fang.
 
The latter is one of the young designers who will debut on the Milanese catwalks in September alongside Chiccomao, a brand founded by Mao Bao Bao, another Chinese designer, and Vietnamese designer Phan Dang Hoang. The calendar also celebrates the return of Boss and Laura Biagiotti, who presented her latest collection in digital format, as well as a number of young labels who have been absent in recent seasons, including Federico Cina, The Attico and Andreadamo. Two new names – Defaience by Nicola Bacchilega and Jacob Cohen – will close the week with a digital show on Monday September 23.
 
For the rest, Milan Fashion Week will, as always, play host to the big names in Italian fashion, from Roberto Cavalli and Etro on Wednesday 18 to Max Mara, Prada and Moschino on Thursday 19, Tod’s, Gucci, Missoni and Versace on Friday 20 and Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana and Bottega Veneta on Saturday 21.
