Walking the red carpet in front of hundreds of journalists, photographers and members of the public can be a daunting affair.
So what better way to calm your nerves and make the most of the night than take a close family member along as your plus one?
That’s just what Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Steven Spielberg and other key Oscar nominees decided to do.
So, who did they take and how did they get on at showbiz’s biggest night?
Ryan Gosling

His performance was one of the highlights of the show, and Ryan Gosling made sure his “Kenergy” wasn’t wasted by bringing his family along to support him at this year’s Oscars.
The Canadian star walked the red carpet with his sister Mandi who’s a Toronto-based producer and journalist.
He also took his mum Donna and stepdad Valerio Attanasio, making it a real family outing.
Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper‘s Maestro was up for seven awards, but he sadly didn’t take home a single statuette.
A labour of love – he not only starred in, but also co-wrote and directed the film too, in which he plays American composer Leonard Bernstein opposite Carey Mulligan as his wife Felicia.
Luckily his mum, Gloria Campano, was there to boost her son’s spirits, the second time she was his date for the night after he took her back in 2020 when he was nominated for his work on A Star Is Born.
Martin Scorsese

He lost out in the best director category to British director Christopher Nolan, but if veteran filmmaker Martin Scorsese had won at 81, he would have been the oldest winner of the category to date.
He brought his 25-year-old daughter, Francesca along, who’s an actress, filmmaker and TikTok creator.
A fan of her work, he’s made several cameos in her viral TikTok videos, including in October last year when she quizzed him on modern slang.
Steven Spielberg

He’s the most well-known Hollywood director of all – Steven Spielberg.
And accompanying him on the red carpet was his granddaughter, Eve Gavigan.
She’s the daughter of Spielberg’s daughter, Gray’s Anatomy star actress Jessica Capshaw.
Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell

The brother and sister team not only performed on the night, but also took home an award.
Performing their Barbie hit What Was I Made For? as the first live song of the night, the track was the only win of the night for the box office smash.
Accepting her award – her second Oscar at just 22 – Eilish said she was “so thankful for this song and for this movie,” as well as thanking her parents, adding, “I love you guys so much”.
