Spice Girls’ 30th anniversary celebrated in Royal Mail stamp collection | Ents & Arts News

The Spice Girls are being honoured with a set of stamps to mark 30 years since the band began.

The 15-set collection from the Royal Mail is the first time it’s dedicated an entire stamp issue to a female group.

The stamps relive some of their biggest moments, including the 1997 Brit Awards, the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony, and their comeback tour.

All members of the group have their own individual stamp, with Geri Halliwell featuring in the famous Union Jack dress.

Royal Mail said it worked closely with the band to choose the images.

The 10 stamps that make up the main collection show live performances, while there are a further five of the bandmates from their Spice World photoshoot.

It’s also only the sixth time a music group has been given its own Royal Mail stamp set.

The others are The Beatles in 2007, Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen in 2020, The Rolling Stones in 2022 and Iron Maiden in 2023.

Spice Girls fans can pre-order the stamps from today.

The group formed in 1994 – but it wasn’t until 1996 that debut single Wannabe reached number one around the world and made them megastars.

They notched up nine UK chart-toppers and sold more than 100 million records, making them one of the most successful British acts ever.

They went on a break in 2000, but returned in 2007 for a massively successful worldwide tour.
