Luxury womenswear brand Anavila has stepped into homeware and home textiles with the launch of its new line ‘House & Home.’ Its maiden collection takes inspiration from the Birhor tribe from Jharkhand and is designed to promote mindful living and highlight indigenous Indian craft traditions.

Anavila’s take on slow living in the home – Anavila

For her first foray into a homeware brand, designer Anavila Misra sought to honour craft and tradition through minimalist textile products featuring subtle craft details. The collection promotes a sense of slowing down and a connection to nature, the brand announced in a press release.

Products including cushions, sheets, table runners, and place mats come in neutral tones with pops of colour and are combined with purpose to create a calm living space. The collection’s aesthetic mirrors that of Anavila’s paired down and thoughtful womenswear, which focuses on the concept of slow fashion.

“Today, a return to mindful living is upon us,” announced the brand. “As a civilization, we are rediscovering a deeper purpose, realising that a slower, more intentional way of life preserves traditions, crafts, and communities. The first edition of our House & Home series embraces this mindfulness, drawing inspiration from the Birhor people of the forest, whose connection to the land is their way of life. Birhor, an indigenous tribe from Jharkhand, embodies authenticity, warmth, and an intimate bond with nature.”

Designer and entrepreneur Anavila Misra established her eponymous brand in 2012 and the label became known for its positioning of the saree as an everyday fashion garment and its use of pure linen yarns. Anavila works with numerous indigenous craft clusters in India, including in West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bhuj, while also promoting sustainable garment production.
