“This one is a 100 square foot store which will be delivering in Arail Tent City, Dome City, ITDC Luxury Camp, Devrakh, and other key areas of he Maha Kumbh Mela,” announced Blinkit’s chief executive Albinder Dhindsa in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The quick commerce business has not previously offered its delivery services in the area and will run its pop-up operation for the duration of the month-long event.

Product categories available at the pop-up Blinkit location have been tailored to the needs of pilgrims traveling to the site from across India. These include textile goods such as blankets, towels, and bedsheets as well as groceries, items used in poojas, and electronic goods including chargers and power banks among others, ET Tech reported.

This Maha Kumbh Mela takes place at the time of a rare celestial alignment which occurs only every 144 years, the Indian Express reported. For this reason, the event is expected to draw around 45 crore devotees from across both India and the globe, making it one of the largest gatherings in human history. The large numbers of people converging on the Uttar Pradesh city of Prayagraj thus presents significant business opportunities across a wide range of industries.
