Watch brand the Jaipur Watch Company has expanded its timepiece offering and its focus on India’s history by launching its ‘Baagh III’ line of watches, made using coins from 1947.

Jaipur Watch Company’s Baagh III timepiece – Jaipur Watch Company

“The Baagh III collection represents more than just craftsmanship; it’s a celebration of India’s strength and heritage,” said Jaipur Watch Company’s founder Gaurav Mehta in a press release. “By integrating the iconic 1947 Half Rupee Coin, we’ve transformed a piece of our nation’s history into a timeless work of art, crafting watches that not only keep time but also preserve a story.”

The Half Rupee Coins used in Baagh III were minted exclusively during the latter half of 1946 and 1947 and represent the final currency issuance under the British rule of India. The brand thus sees the coins as a key part of India’s journey to independence.

The watches dials are produced using a traditional enamel technique which is followed by pad printing. Watches in the collection also feature a 43 millimetre stainless steel case which is safeguarded by a sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating.

Designed to be worn everyday, Baagh III watches have a water resistance rating of up to 5 ATM and are also scratch resistant. The watches have a Japanese Miyota 8215 Automatic movement and retail exclusively from Jaipur Watch Company’s India flagship stores.
