Coty has surpassed its 2030 Scope 1 and 2 emissions targets, achieving an 82% reduction since 2019, the beauty giant announced on Monday as part of its FY24 Sustainability Report.

This achievement was further supported by a 65% reduction in air freight emissions, thanks to optimized logistics. Likewise, all Coty-owned factories and distribution centers are now powered by 100% renewable electricity, with eight key sites achieving carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

To reduce plastic waste, Coty has rejoined the Ellen MacArthur Foundation as a Network Member, committing to cut virgin plastic use by 60% by 2030 (vs. 2019). The company also introduced its first water target to reduce water withdrawal by 25% by 2030, along with a new commitment to certify 90% of fiber-based materials by the same year.

On the product front, Coty has updated the packaging of heritage items such as CoverGirl Clean Invisible Foundation and Max Factor Facefinity Compact, aligning with its sustainable packaging initiatives. The recent launch of Infiniment Coty Paris, a collection made entirely with alcohol from recycled carbon emissions, marked another milestone in Coty’s commitment to sustainability.

Coty has also made strides in diversity, equity, and inclusion. The company reached gender balance in leadership roles ahead of its 2025 goal, with women representing the majority of named Coty patent inventors.

“As we mark our 120th anniversary, we are immensely proud of our achievements in sustainability and innovation,” said Coty CEO Sue Nabi.

“In FY24, Coty made extraordinary progress toward our ESG goals, from achieving gender balance in leadership to setting ambitious new targets on packaging and water use. Sustainability remains central to Coty’s success as we continue to make progress in areas critical to the future of beauty.”
