Pitti Immagine has announced that MM6 Maison Margiela will be the guest designer at the next edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, scheduled in Florence on January 14-17 2025. The avant-garde label will present a menswear collection created exclusively for the trade show, at an event that will be held in an as-yet-undisclosed location in Florence. In February, MM6 will be showing as usual at Milan Fashion Week Women.

“We are honoured and excited to be invited as Pitti Uomo’s guest designer this coming January, as part of the world’s most important menswear fashion fair. We intend to bring the style and spirit of MM6, creating a menswear project specifically for Florence. After nearly 20 years, we are thrilled to return with Maison Margiela to the Pitti stage and bring to the fore a contemporary menswear wardrobe that will resonate with the attitude, concepts, and processes of MM6,” said Maison Margiela in a press release.

“A deliberate sense of provocation is almost familiar, as it is part of the essence of each MM6 item,” said Francesca Tacconi, special events coordinator at Pitti Immagine. “MM6 explores different postures and behaviours in the here and now. They become symbols of inner nonconformity, and independent expressions of a wardrobe celebrating the beauty and surprise of imperfection. To us, it seems like a return to our roots, rendered contemporary by the dialogue between sartorial de-construction and individuality of character. Here in Florence, we are excited to unveil a men’s collection conceived specifically for the Pitti Uomo show,” she added.

MM6 Maison Margiela was launched in 1997, and it continues to reinvent contemporary fashion with witty irreverence, relying on collections that are a nod to the label’s archives while remaining entirely independent. Its sartorial codes are constantly upended and revolutionised. The collections’ key conceptual elements are created using unique fabric treatments, generating a distinctive unisex wardrobe that ranges from ready-to-wear to footwear, accessories and leather goods. The horizontal white stitching that affixes the MM6 label to the back of each garment is an unmistakable identifier, clearly visible from the outside.
