E-commerce giant Flipkart has opened 11 new fulfilment centres across nine Indian cities as it bolsters its logistics network ahead of its flagship festive online sale event ‘The Big Billion Days 2024.’
“The Big Billion Days is not just a shopping event at Flipkart- it’s a symbol of how digital commerce can uplift an entire ecosystem,” said Flipkart Group’s CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Indian Retailer Bureau reported. “Our focus is on creating value for the nation, from offering affordability to customers to helping local manufacturers expand their reach.”
Following its latest round of fulfilment centre launches, Flipkart now counts 83 fulfilment centres across India. The move has also created over one lakh job opportunities, with some being seasonal positions.
Flipkart’s Big Billion Days 2024 sale will launch on September 27, with early access on September 26 for its Flipkart Plus and VIP members. The e-commerce sale will run until October 6 and will feature exclusive promotions via video commerce. The business has also harnessed artificial intelligence to offer ‘Flippi 2.0’, an AI-driven chat assistant designed to help shoppers get queries answered swiftly.
In order to encourage sellers to list items and run promotions, Flipkart will feature 20% higher seller rewards during the sale. The business announced its aim of maximising growth opportunities for small scale sellers on the occasion that its ‘Flipkart Samarth’ program for local artisans celebrated five years in operation.
