Metro Brands Limited announces partnership with New Era Cap for India expansion

Indian footwear and accessories business Metro Brands Limited has partnered with New York-based sports headwear brand New Era Cap to expand its retail operations in India. The tie up will also enable Metro Brands Limited to deepen its penetration of the athleisure market.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Metro Brands to create a robust growth plan for both headwear and apparel in India,” said New Era’s vice president Paul Gils in a press release. “Metro Brands has a deep understanding of the Indian consumer coupled with their expertise in retail and distribution. We look forward to significant brand expansion over the coming years.”
 
Under the agreement, Metro Brands Limited has the exclusive rights to the distribution and sale of New Era products in India. This includes headwear, apparel, and accessories which will retail through retail stores and shopping kiosks. Online, Metro Brands Limited will retail New Era goods on its own e-commerce store, a New Era e-commerce store, and on multi-brand marketplaces.  
 
“At Metro Brands Ltd, our vision is to introduce the finest global brands to India and fulfil our customers’ complete athleisure wardrobe needs,” said Metro Brands Limited’s CEO Nissan Joseph. “This partnership marks a major milestone in that journey. It will allow us to revolutionise the cap market, elevate the retail experience, and address the evolving preferences of our customers. We are confident that, through this collaboration, caps are going to be the next statement accessory to watch out for.”
 
New Era is known for its sporty snapbacks. The brand is the official on-field cap for US Major League Baseball and the US’s National Football League.
