The India Bullion Jewellers Association has named Aksha Mohit Kamboj as its new national vice president. Kamboj is the first woman to take on the role, which was effective from June 22.
“I am looking forward to working closely with the leadership team and our esteemed members to uphold the highest standards of integrity and excellence in our industry,” said Kamboj on the occasion of her appointment, ET Retail reported.
Kamboj’s term as vice president will run until 2029. In her first interview since the appointment, Kamboj shared that her main priorities for the organisation include enacting a plan to boost small businesses, enacting fair pricing, rolling out skills development, and increasing ease of doing business for the industry, Aspect Global announced on Facebook.
Kamboj has extensive experience in the jewellery and bullion industries and is also the executive chairperson of global conglomerate Aspect Global Ventures. Kamboj is also a co-owner of Indian Street Premier League cricket team Tiigers of Kolkata, which made its league debut this year and won the title in March.
The IBJA is based at Mumbai’s Zaveri Bazar and has offices in 29 states across the country, according to its website. Established in 1919, the organisation advocates for the jewellery industry and publishes the benchmark gold rates twice a day. The organisation is currently setting up its own Domestic Gold Spot exchange in Navi Mumbai.
