Decathlon launches first Jharkhand store in Jamshedpur

Sportswear and sporting goods business Decathlon has made its brick-and-mortar retail debut in the state of Jharkhand and opened a store in Jamshedpur’s Bistupur neighbourhood as the French business continues to expand across India.

“We’re thrilled to bring our wide range of sports and outdoor gear, innovative products, and passionate sports community to Jamshedpur,” announced Decathlon Sports Jamshedpur on its new Facebook page. “Whether you’re into cycling, running, football, or any sport under the sun, we’ve got something special for you.”
 
The store opened its doors to the public with over 6,000 products for 60 sporting activities, according to a video posted on the new Jamshedpur Facebook page. Decathlon promotes sports for healthy living as part of its brand ethos and its promotions for the new Bistupur store show the area’s residents taking part in activities including yoga, cycling, and running.
 
“Calling all sports enthusiasts in Jamshedpur and across Jharkhand,” announced Decathlon Sports India’s business development manager for the East and North East Bijay Bhan Singh on Linkedin. “The first Decathlon sports store in Jharkhand is now open, right here in Jamshedpur. Decathlon was established by entrepreneur Michel Leclercq in France in 1976 and today has a retail presence in more than 72 countries worldwide. The brand currently counts over 110 stores in India.
