It all started after her Bollywood breakthrough with “Raees.” The criticism she received post the movie triggered the mental health issue, which was later diagnosed as ‘manic depression’ by her psychiatrist. She revealed that she has been on anti-depressants for six-seven years. Last year too her condition deteriorated, she calls it “her lowest point.”

But she knew she couldn’t lose the battle, and she knew she had to “work through it.” Medication and the unwavering support of her close ones have helped her immensely throughout her struggle.
