Meghan: Duchess of Sussex back on Instagram with new brand | Ents & Arts News

Must read

The Duchess of Sussex is back on Instagram just days after speaking about the dangers of social media.

An unverified account appeared on Thursday featuring a logo, a link to a website where fans can enter their email address to join a waitlist, and a bio that said “by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex”.

There was a short video story on the account to the music of Nancy Wilson’s I Wish You Love with rustic scenes of Meghan baking, hands arranging flowers, and a woman in a gown standing at the end of a colonnade.

By 9.30pm UK time, the account, which has the name American Riviera Orchard, had 181,000 followers.

Sky News has seen documents filed last month with the US Patent and Trademark Office seeking to register the American Riviera Orchard name and trademark protection for goods such as textiles, cutlery, jellies, jams, marmalades and assorted food spreads.

The documents also said the brand might feature cookbooks, retail space, “coffee services in the nature of tableware, tea services in the nature of tableware, servingware for serving food and drinks, decanters”.

The application was filed under a company called Mama Knows Best, which was registered in January.

Last week, Meghan said she keeps her distance from social media “for my own well-being”.

“You really wrap your head around why people would be so hateful – it’s not catty, it’s cruel,” she said while speaking on a panel alongside Katie Couric and Brooke Shields.

Meghan said she had experienced online “bullying and abuse” while pregnant with her two children and after they were born.

Meghan and Harry left official royal duties in January 2020 and live in Montecito, California, alongside a number of other celebrities.
