Must read

Taylor Swift has begun her journey back to the US from Tokyo to see her boyfriend Travis Kelce play in the Super Bowl.

Swift, 34, told fans at the Tokyo Dome on Saturday: “We’re all gonna go on a great adventure.”

She was likely referring to her rush to get from Japan to Las Vegas with less than 24 hours to spare before the biggest NFL game of the season.

Self-proclaimed ‘Swifties’ across the globe have been speculating about the potential strain on her time schedule for weeks.

While she is due to land back in Los Angeles a day before her boyfriend’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, play the San Francisco 49ers, she will then have to get to Las Vegas in time for the game, which kicks off at 3.30pm local time on Sunday (11.30pm UK time).

Hitomi Takahashi, 29, was one of thousands of fans at the Tokyo Eras Tour show on Saturday. She said: “I hope she can return in time. It’s so romantic.”

Japanese embassy weighs in

Such has been the anticipation over the timings of her journey, the Japanese embassy in the US tweeted about it.

Making reference to three of her songs, a spokesperson said: “If she departs Tokyo in the evening after her concert, she should comfortably arrive in Las Vegas before the Super Bowl begins.”

Swift and Kelce have been dating since September 2023.

The singer has been criticised for her use of private jets by climate activists. She appears to have sold one of her two personal planes over a dispute with a student who had been tracking her flights.

Swift’s lawyers sent a cease and desist letter to Jack Sweeney, the creator of the social media account that logs the takeoffs and landings of planes and helicopters owned by billionaires, politicians, and other public figures.

Fans and her entourage claim it has made her fear for her safety. Sweeney claims his posts offer “transparency”.
