The Israel Defence Forces have released a video of what they claim is a tunnel used by Hamas beneath Gaza’s largest hospital.
Troops can be seen in the footage, which was released today, descending a three-foot ladder and a spiral staircase along the length of the 55 metre long tunnel, purportedly situated next to the al Shifa hospital complex.
The video, was filmed on November 17 according to a date stamp on the footage itself.
The IDF say is Hamas has command centre beneath the hospital, a claim denied by Hamas and by hospital staff.
The release of the footage comes after the World Health Organisation (WHO) said that al Shifa hospital – once the largest, most advanced and best-equipped referral hospital in Gaza – has essentially stopped functioning as a medical facility.
