Angelina Jolie’s father Jon Voight has criticised her on social media – saying he was “disappointed” in his daughter’s comments about Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
Jolie, 48, posted a statement on Instagram saying the Hamas terrorist attack “cannot justify the innocent lives lost in bombing a civilian population in Gaza that has nowhere to go, no access to food or water, no possibility of evacuation, and not even the basic human right to cross a border to seek refuge”.
“The bombings are causing desperate new humanitarian needs daily,” she wrote.

Voight married Jolie’s mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, in 1971. They had two children – James in 1973 and Jolie in 1975 – but divorced the year after the actress was born.
Jolie and Voight were estranged in the early 2000s after he publicly commented on her mental health and divorce from Billy Bob Thornton.
The pair reconciled with Voight telling the Daily Mail in 2011 that “being reunited with Angie is very precious to me”. However, it is believed Jolie cut contact again after her divorce from Brad Pitt.
