Harry Kane: Tottenham striker arrives in Germany to finalise move to Bayern Munich | World News

Must read

Harry Kane has been mobbed by fans after he touched down in Germany ahead of finalising his move to Bayern Munich.

While the terms of the deal are not yet public, the agreement to allow Kane to end his 19-year stay at Tottenham Hotspur and head to Germany is rumoured to be worth around €100 million (£86.3 million).

It is understood that he has already completed the first part of his medical at Bayern Munich, with Sky Sports News reporting he is on his way to the club’s training ground for the next section.

After widespread speculation about his future, Kane started his day being driven to Stansted Airport in Essex, where a private jet was waiting to fly him to Munich.

However, he was then diverted to a friend’s house, after being told that the deal had not yet been finalised, and he did not have permission to fly.

It was not until around 3pm that he was told by the Bundesliga team he was cleared to fly after they had finalised a new deal with Tottenham.

He took off around 4.50pm and landed just outside the German city at 6.10pm.

Pictures show the England captain’s car being swarmed by fans as he was driven to complete his medical.

It will now be a race against time for club officials, who will be keen to unveil Kane as a Munich player ahead of the team’s game against RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Earlier, Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel said his people were “working with the highest pressure and highest focus and highest priority to sign Harry Kane”.

“And this shows the importance – I mean, we are trying to get the captain of the English national team out of England, out of the Premier League. That says it all,” he added.

Kane’s move to Munich means he leaves the English top flight 47 goals adrift from Alan Shearer’s record tally in the Premier League of 260.

However, he does leave north London as his team’s top goalscorer across all competitions, finding the back of the net 280 times.

He will also have the chance to battle for silverware, with Bayern Munich the current Bundesliga champions, as well as winning the Champions League in 2020.
