There are many places in the world that you simply have to see as a traveler, then there are places you would like to travel to, and others that you do not want to set foot on. But there are also a number of places to which access is prohibited!
Sometimes you cannot visit these places because they are too dangerous for humans, protect the area or are meant to be kept a secret.
That’s why we’ve created a list of the most extraordinary forbidden places.
Tomb of Qin Shi Huang, China
The tomb of Qin Shi Huang is a tomb created for the first emperor of China.
It is the largest tomb in the world. You’ve probably heard of the terracotta warriors protecting this tomb.
The terracotta warriors are one of the most popular tourist attractions in China.
Nevertheless, the inside of the tomb is completely sealed.
Visitors may see about 2000 terracotta warriors, but there are an estimated 6,000 in the underground caves of the tomb complex.
There are rumors that there are strategically placed boobytraps to prevent intruders from reaching the cemetery.
What we know for sure is that the caves have a very high concentration of quicksilver that would cost everyone their lives when entering without proper protection.
As a result, the countless treasures of Qin Shi Huang are kept safely in the tomb.
Vatican Secret Archives, Vatican City
The Vatican Secret Archives is located in the Vatican.
There, the oldest secrets of the Catholic Church are guarded.
With centuries of hidden truths, from financial accounting to government documents, these archives are taboo to most people.
Only the most important members of the Catholic Church are allowed to use the books in there.
Occasionally, highly educated scientists gain access to the archives, but they must not touch the books there.
There is much speculation about what secrets this place is hiding, such as the evidence of the existence of aliens and demons, or the evidence of the Church’s alleged involvement in the 20th century’s seizure of power by the fascists.
Poveglia, Italy
The Italian island of Poveglia is generally known as the most damned island in the world.
In the Middle Ages, this small island was a quarantine zone for people suffering from diseases like the plague, and many ended up on the island.
In the 19th century, an institution for the mentally ill was run on it. Rumor has it that a cruel doctor performed terrible experiments on his patients.
That’s why rumor has it that the spirits of the deceased are haunting the cursed place.
Therefore, it is forbidden for both tourists and the Italian population to visit the place.
North Sentinel Island, India
North Sentinel Island is located on the Gulf of Bengal on the coast of India.
This island is home to an indigenous population that lives isolated from the rest of the outside world.
They have lived there for 60,000 years and have been defending their territory ever since.
They reject any communication with outsiders and kill anyone who still tries.
Therefore, the Indian government has issued a ban on approaching the island.
This measure is intended to serve both the self-protection of the outside world and the indigenous people living there, as the islanders are not prepared for diseases from the rest of the world.
Also, the Islanders make their intentions very clear to everyone, should you approach the island with a boat. When approaching with a boat, the natives will also make it clear by shooting with arrows.
Area 51, United States
Everyone knows that this place in the Nevada desert in the United States is not accessible to most people.
The place is a heavily guarded and hidden military base. No one knows exactly what is going on there, so there are many conspiracy theories. The most popular is that experiments are performed on aliens in this bunker.
The governments of all countries claim that there is no evidence of extraterrestrial life on our planet.
Whatever happens in Area 51, we advise against visiting this place, as it is definitely inaccessible. The area is protected by landmines and other high-tech security measures.
Caves of Lascaux, France
In the southwest of France lies the cave of Lascaux. The exploration of this place is prohibited to tourists, as the caves have prehistoric cave paintings.
It is estimated that the cave paintings are about 20,000 years old.
They include, among others, drawings of bison, ibex, and deer.
The most beautiful work of art is in the Hall of the Bulls, a room with life-size creations of bulls, as you can see in the picture above.
Since many tourists touched the works of art, the entry of the cage has been forbidden for the average visitor since 1960. Since that year, the French government has set itself the task of protecting these works of art.
Snake Island, Brazil
140 km off the coast of the Brazilian city of São Paulo lies the island of Ilha da Queimada Grande.
Here you cannot go on vacation because there are about 4000 snakes.
And these are not just any snakes; these are the highly venomous golden lanceheads.
For this reason, only researchers are allowed to enter the island. There, they shoot photos, inspect the behavior of the animals and examine the poison.
We have no objection against the fact that entering this place is prohibited because it really does not do us any good.
