The Amethyst Room launches multi-designer showcase in Chennai

Fashion boutique and pop-up venue The Amethyst Room has launched a multi-designer showcase in Chennai to bring the summer lines of five independent designer brands to the city. The showcase features an array of offbeat feminine looks from Soham Dave, Yam, Payal Pratap, Maku, and The Summer House. 

By bringing a selection of womenswear brands to its store on Chamiers Road, The Amethyst Room aims to present a comprehensive wardrobe for the summer season, the boutique announced in a press release. The showcase is also designed to give up-and-coming brands a springboard from which to reach new customers. 
 
Featured brand Yam’s summer collection features a bouquet of painterly florals on loose dresses for an artistic feel. Shirt dresses provide day to night options while more relaxed tunic dresses add a resort wear flair. Additions of glitter embellishments make some designs evening wear ready while other pieces have a more minimalist feel.

Soham Dave’s summer collection ‘Maps’ focuses on loose tunics and shirt dresses with abstract prints inspired by maps and their spirit of continued exploration. Maps uses the Ajrak craft to fuse traditional textile practices with modern aesthetics and the collection is hand printed on cotton and cotton silk fabrics.
 
“Maps represent the relationship between roads, blocks and directions among other elements,” announced the brand in its collection concept note. “In cohesion, they depict the surface of a space.”
