House of VIP Industries’ you-centred accessories brand Skybags has partnered with Netflix original movie ‘The Archies’ to launch a backpack line. Inspired by the movie’s nostalgic aesthetics, the collection highlights Skybags’ focus on connecting with Gen Z shoppers.
“This partnership with The Archies is a remarkable step in our journey to engage more deeply with India’s youth,” said VIP Industries Limited’s vice president of marketing Praful Gupta in a press release. “The Archies, with its huge cast, has already garnered a massive fan following, and we see great potential in this collaboration. ‘Skybags x Archies’ represents the perfect blend of style and sophistication, offering a unique, trendy product range that resonates deeply with the spirit of the youth.”
The collection features daypacks, professional backpacks, and school and college backpacks inspired by The Archies and featuring retro, collage style prints in feminine, masculine, and gender neutral colour ways. By partnering with the production, which has already garnered significant buzz across social media, Skybags aims to connect with Gen Z across India and offer them practical and trend-driven accessories.
The Archies is directed by Zoya Akhtar and reimagines the vintage Archie Comics as a musical set in 1960s India. Featuring actors including Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, and Yuvraj Menda, the movie puts its retro costume design front and centre. This, along with numerous retro collections at the recent edition of Lakmé fashion week, is expected to lead to a rise in Gen Z searches for retro aesthetics.
