The Ladakh International Fashion Runway has launched its schedule of trips and fashion showcases to celebrate India’s G20 presidency and bring together fashion ambassadors from a range of countries in the mountainous region of Ladakh.
“The G20 event is a melting pot of diversity,” announced Ladakh Fashion Runway on Facebook. “International participants from all corners of the globe bring their unique backgrounds, traditions, and perspectives, creating a vibrant tapestry of cultures. Together, we foster cross-cultural understanding and strengthen global ties.”
After travelling from Delhi to Leh, Ladakh, international participants acclimatised before attending the Hemis cultural festival on June 27, the event organisers announced on a dedicated website for the fashion initiative. Participants also travelled to Tso Moriri and Hanle before attending the Hanle Nomadic International Festival then holding a high altitude runway show and conclave in early July.
“I am delighted to share that as the winner of Miss Earth India 2022, I have been chosen to represent India at the illustrious event that aims to commemorate India’s G20 presidency,” said Miss Earth India 2022 winner Vanshika Parmar, Tribune India reported. “The historic event aims to combat climate crisis by means of sustainable fashion and promote eco-tourism in Ladakh. Besides, it will celebrate the local craftsmanship and rich cultural heritage of India. This event is also a Guinness Book of World Records attempt as the highest elevation fashion ramp to be performed at an altitude of 19,022 feet on Umling La.”
