Imtiaz Ali has consistently spoken of his dream of making a film about the lives of two of Punjab’s most famous musicians. Directed by Diljit Dosanji and Parineethi Chopra, the filmmaker is finally making his dream a reality as he plans to start filming the film within a week. Diljit plays the role of Chamkila in the film, while Parineeti stars as Amarjot Kaur. According to sources close to the development, Parineeti Chopra is set to start filming on 11th December in Mumbai.

“Parineeti has been preparing intensively for the role for the last few months and is ready to begin the journey of director Ali’s film Imtiaz in Mumbai on December 11th. It will be filmed intermittently for two months in December and January,” said a source close to the development, adding that numerous script readings have taken place in recent months. “Imtiaz, Parineeti, and Diljit have conducted several workshops and the film is ready to be staged from 11 December,” the source added.

The film chronicles the story of Chamkilla and his wife, Amarjot Kaur, who was murdered along with other members of a music gang on March 8, 1988. Her murder remains unsolved to this day, and this journey and plot made Imtiaz his Ali interested in the story.
The film is titled her Chamkila and is Parineeti Chopra’s first collaboration with Diljit Dosanjh. The film’s music is also on lockdown, with rumors of a special album for audiences by Imtiaz Ali and his music team. Keep an eye on Pinkvilla for further updates.
