Decathlon launches business-to-business website for Indian market

Sportswear business Decathlon has launched a new business-to-business e-commerce website in India. The new website offers over 6,000 sportswear and sports equipment products relating to 60 different sports to its business-to-business partners across the country.

“The launch of our new website signifies our steadfast dedication to offering holistic solutions for organisations in search of top-notch sports equipment and services,” said Decathlon India’s business-to-business channel head Urender Singh, India Retailing reported. “By extending this provision, we solidify our standing as a reliable and trustworthy partner within the Indian sports community and beyond, fostering the overall growth and advancement of sports throughout the country.”

Registration on the business-to-business portal will be free for businesses. Decathlon has built relationships with more than 13,000 organisations in India as well as 1,050 units of the Indian army. The business also makes a portion of its products in India. 

In March this year, Decathlon held talks with the Indian government to petition for permission to retail products from other brands in its brick-and-mortar stores in the country. The business’ goal is to be able to function in India as a multi-brand retailer, which is how it operates in numerous other countries. 
Decathlon opened its first India store in Bengaluru in 2009, according to the business’ Facebook page. The business offers buyback facilities at numerous India stores and holds sports related events to engage its India customers.
