Former Eskom CEO André de Ruyter has announced that he is leaving South Africa for safety reasons. Asked in a shocking interview on E-TV aired on Tuesday if he had plans to leave the country after leaving Eskom.
André de Ruyter said:
“I think it’s good for your health.” On Wednesday night, Eskom announced he was released with “immediate effect”, a month earlier than expected. Eskom claimed the decision was made by consensus after a special board meeting. De Ruyter leaves Eskom after revealing widespread corruption within the organization in an interview.
De Ruyter also alleged that four crime syndicates are stealing about R1 billion from Eskom every month in Mpumalanga. “They have 60 to 70 hitmen who are well trained and well armed. People are being killed in Mpumalanga,” he said. De Ruyter recently became addicted after feeling dizzy and confused in the office. Doctors later found high levels of cyanide in his bloodstream.
